Tapestry Online Learning Journal
At Darul Arqum Nursery, we use a online system called Tapestry to build our individual children’s learning journeys and store all observations and assessments relating to each child. This is a safe and secure system and one that enables parents and carers to access their child’s learning journey at any time. They can view it with their child, family and friends at home and also post any comments and photographs of their own, helping to create a fully holistic view of the child and strengthen the parent partnership.
As part of our commitment to safeguarding our children, all learning journeys are password protected so that parents and carers can only access the account of their own child. Other than parents/carers, only the child’s key person and the manager have access to the journal. Staff use tablets to take the photographs for observations that will be uploaded to the journal. The tablets are to be stored within our secure setting and procedures are in place to ensure they remain on site at all times, unless specific permission from management as been granted for outings that the children are attending. Staff can only access tapestry site and update children’s learning journals on nursery premises.
We ensure all staff are DBS checked before they are able to log on.
every member of staff has signed an agreement specifying their responsibilities.
An easy-to-use online learning journal, Tapestry helps educators and parents to record, track and celebrate children’s progress in early years education. Tapestry enhances this special time, helping teachers and practitioners to capture children’s experiences as well as monitor development and learning. This unique journal is shared online with parents, who are able to see special moments and view their child’s progress. Text, images and videos can be easily uploaded via PC, tablet or our mobile app – anywhere there’s an online connection. Every entry helps to create a complete story of a child’s time at nursery.
All parents will receive a hard copy of the learning journal when the child leaves.
